Give Birth To Yuh AUTHENTICITY was created to challenge the pressure to conform and to encourage listeners to embrace their authentic identity, celebrate their mistakes, and rise above the opinions of others.
I chose to narrate my own work because the message is deeply personal and rooted in my lived experience. My Jamaican voice, language, emotion, rhythm and storytelling style are intentional parts of the listening experience. I wanted listeners to hear not only the words, but the conviction, vulnerability, humor and cultural identity behind them.
My intention was to create an audiobook that feels like an intimate conversation with the listener—one that challenges, encourages and ultimately reminds people that they do not have to abandon who they are to become who they are meant to be.
